In the Women in Film organization, it is not unusual to find women who have amassed impressive credits in the film and television world and who also possess an entrepreneurial streak. Denise DuBarry is one of those women. Co-founder and current Vice-Chairman of Thane International, a global leader in the direct response marketing industry, Denise DuBarry is recognized as one of the industry’s pioneers. Serving as it’s Chief Creative Officer for 15 years, Denise was responsible for product development, production and internet marketing, areas where she continues to provide input. Her long form infomercials and short form commercials have sold over $1 billion in products.
She created the brand names and marketing strategies for the Orbitrek, California Beauty and Klear Action, to name a few. She has also served as executive producer of several live award shows for the Electronic Retailing Industry held at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas with hosts George Wallace, Paul Rodriguez, and Lindsey Wagner. She received ERA’s 2003 “Volunteer of the Year” Award and, along with her husband Bill Hay, was awarded the prestigious Ernst & Young “Entrepreneur of the Year Award” in 1998. She has served on several boards, including the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences and the Palm Springs Film Festival. She now serves as a member of the ERA (Electronic Retailing Association), Thane International, the Marywood Palm Valley School and the Palm Springs Women In Film boards of directors. Prior to her business career Denise was an accomplished actress. In addition to starring in several films, she was a regular in the series “Black Sheep Squadron” and was featured in the film classic “Being There.”
The city of Palm Springs honored Denise in 2002 with her very own star on the Walk of Fame. Among her many accomplishments, Denise is a certified Bikram yoga instructor.
